And of course it depends on what your definition of small business is. True, 99.7% of the businesses in America are "small," he says, meaning that they employ no more than 500.
Here's a bit from an excellent column in the Arizona Republic by Tom Rex of ASU fame:
In reality, 51 percent of the nation’s jobs are provided by the 0.3 percent of companies that are not small. Moreover, this employment share is rising slowly over time — it was 47 percent in 1992, the earliest available data — indicating that large businesses are creating a disproportionate share of the nation’s jobs.
